How to Choose a Drain For Your Copper Farmhouse Sink

A copper farmhouse sink is the perfect decorative element for any style of kitchen, from a Tuscan-inspired kitchen to a sleek, modern kitchen. At Copper Sinks Online, we have a wide variety of copper farmhouse sinks, and can also custom build a sink if you don’t see exactly what you need.

We have many different drain styles and drain finishes for you to consider which are sold separately for your sink. Our copper farmhouse sinks do not include a drain as we have found that each customer is unique and a one-size-fits-all drain simply won’t fit everyone’s needs.

Our 3.5” kitchen sink drain finishes include polished copper, antique copper and weathered copper, as well as polished or brushed nickel, Venetian bronze, oil rubbed bronze, PVD (physical vapor deposition) oil rubbed bronze, and sleek polished chrome.

We also offer standard copper farmhouse sink drains, disposal drains and disposal drains with a stopper. The drains are compatible with all ISE/Insinkerator continuous feed waste disposers and we also have a drain compatible with the Waste King three bolt system.

One question we often are asked is regarding the location of the drains in your copper farmhouse sink. Generally, the drain is centered in the sink and this is the most common configuration. However, if you do wish to have a drain placed in another location, this is not a problem and we can create a custom copper farmhouse sink just for you while ensuring that the new drain location is the lowest part of the sink for proper draining.

Aside from the beauty of a copper farmhouse sink, one of the advantages of copper is that it is an antibacterial surface. Our sinks and drains are produced using the finest, 100% lead-free copper and the natural antimicrobial properties of copper make it a top choice for a kitchen sink.

Copper actually kills microbes when exposed to the copper surface, which means they are a healthier option for your family and don’t require harsh chemicals to clean away germs and bacteria. In fact, rinsing your sink with water and a mild soap and then wiping it dry with a clean towel is all you normally need to do, although it might be necessary to use a wax polish periodically, especially if you live in an area where your water has a high mineral content.

We also have a variety of copper faucets, and if you purchase a sink and faucet, we’ll take 20% off the price of your faucet. Feel free to call or email if you have any questions about our copper sinks, drains or faucets or wish to place a custom order.
