How to Create The Perfect Built-In Home Bar

A built-in bar is a fun addition to any size of home, and even a smaller home probably has a little nook where you can install a small home bar. Once you begin planning, we have an assortment of beautiful copper bar sinks that would be a wonderful addition to any home bar.

Before you begin, you will need to select a location in your home for the bar. A family room, game room, great room or a finished basement are common choices. If you do plan on installing a copper bar sink, a refrigerator with an ice maker and anything else that requires access to plumbing and electricity, you will need to find an area of your home with easy access to plumbing and electrical outlets.

Obviously, you will also want your built-in bar to flow well with the rest of the decor in your room and home. You want the bar to look as though it has always been a component in your home. Choosing similar woods, cabinetry, molding and paint colors will help the bar fit in well with the rest of your interior design. If the bar is near your kitchen, you might even consider using the same type of countertop.

Adding fun elements such as a copper bar sink is an excellent way to add some pizzazz to your bar design. We have several beautiful copper bar sink options for your consideration. Our small round copper bar sink (shown above) is a drop-in or undermount sink with an outside dimension of 16"x7", an inside dimension of 13"x7" and a 2-inch drain opening. There are several different patina options from which to select, and we can customize the size of this sink to suit your needs.

All of our copper bar sinks are made from hand-hammered, lead-free 16-gauge copper and crafted by third generation coppersmiths in Santa Clara del Cobre, Mexico. This magical town is known throughout the world for its fine copper and coppersmiths. In fact, the name of the town itself includes the Spanish word for copper.

In addition to stocking the bar with your favorite beers, wines and liquors, be sure to consider items such as cocktail shakers, stirrers, cocktail napkins, coasters and other helpful items. A selection of bitters and a tray on which to place fresh garnishes also is a handy item. If copper bar sinks are to be installed, do make sure that you rinse out the sink and dry it carefully after use. Some acidic beverages can damage the patina of a copper bar sink, but a careful rinse will eliminate any issues and that's about all the cleaning your copper bar sink will need.
